Caring for our Earth & Environment is at the forefront of what Nur Organics stands for. From using recycled materials to sourcing sustainable and responsibly sourced materials for our products. We're committed to green living, eco-consciousness & reducing our carbon footprint on the planet.
Here are 9 ways in which we run our small business to help the planet
1. COMPOSTABLE, BIODEGRADABLE, RECYCLED & RECYCLABLE PRODUCT PACKAGING
Our lip balm tubes are made out of paperboard that is compostable, recycled and is recyclable. They are also biodegradable which means if they do end up in landfill, they will decompose into tiny pieces and capable of being decomposed by bacteria or other living bio- organisms.
Our candle tins are made of recycled aluminium and can be reused and repurposed. You may want to plant our plantable labels in them, then transfer the sprouts to a larger pot which has drainage.
Our product vinyl labels are also recyclable, so be sure to remove these labels and put them in the recycling bin before you compost. We have written an article all about what Recyclable, Compostable & Biodegradable terms mean, including a how to compost guide HERE
2. ACID FREE TISSUE PAPER & PLASTIC FREE
3. CARBON NEUTRAL SHIPPING: OFFSETTING CARBON EMISSIONS
We love sending your goodies with our carbon neutral courier Sendle. They offset their carbon emissions by supporting projects like regenerating depleting forests and other sustainability projects. So you will rest assured that by shopping online, and getting your order delivered, you're not only supporting our small handmade business but contributing to planting more trees and saving the planet. So go on, give yourself a round of applause and you get to enjoy your goodies too!
4. PLANTABLE SOAP LABELS & AFFIRMATION CARDS
We not only create beautiful unique looking soaps packed with essential oil blends. We especially want our soaps to be truly eco-friendly.
Our soap labels is made entirely out of seed paper (and printed with soy ink). It may cost us a bit extra but it's giving so much back to our planet. Instead of throwing away soap labels, and adding to landfill, you get to plant them and watch as they grow native Australian daisies.
5. LOCAL FAIR-TRADE ETHICAL SUPPLIERS
We use local Australian suppliers for our ingredients and materials. But we are very picky because we make sure these suppliers are ethically run businesses, using sustainable practices, and fair-trade goods. We thus have a trusted bond with our suppliers and ensure quality over quantity every single time. Some of these suppliers are also handmade businesses like us! No mass-produced corporate stuff here!
6. ECO TAPE
What? Yes you read it right. Eco tape! It's the world's first, plastic-free 'bio-based' sticky tape. We couldn't believe it either. We use this amazing tape when packaging your orders and for sealing boxes. We also use recycled kraft paper to secure things. Bye bye plastic! Read all about the Eco tape we use from our friends at Heaps Good Packaging
7. COMPOSTABLE MAILER BAGS
Another innovation from Heaps Good Packaging, these mailers are sleek matt black and are more durable than plastic and made from corn! They are compostable so they literally break down into worm food, meaning no wildlife is harmed and no landfill.
8. RECYCLED SHIPPING & PACKAGING MATERIALS
When packaging your orders for shipping, all materials used are recycled, recyclable and/or compostable.
For larger orders, we ship using a recycled cardboard box. It is environmentally friendly and can be recycled and reused. This is the most eco-friendly way to get your order to you whilst ensuring the products are kept safe and protected during the shipping process.
Your 'Thank You' cards are printed on recycled paper, so please remember to recycle them too. P.S they have a 'Scratch & Win' sticker (also eco-friendly) so don't forget to scratch off to reveal your prize.
9. #HEXWRAP# /ECO HONEYCOMB WRAP
We wrap your orders in this honeycomb/ hex shaped paper. Plastic free and zero waste, Hexwrap is the best alternative to bubble wrap. Made with raw materials sourced from Sustainable Forest Initiatives.
The paper used in the product is SFI (Sustainable Forest Initiatives) certified; is biodegradable, compostable and can be put in the recycling.
It gets its name from the hexagonal shaped cells in the paper that lock together when expanded. Did we mention how satisfying it is?! More so than popping bubble wrap. The paper comes in roll but the sheets are flat, once stretched it releases its hexagonal shapes.
